Huawei Tops Global Foldable Phone Market in Q1 2024

TapTechNews May 22nd news, the market research organization Techinsights released a report today stating that in the first quarter of 2024, Huawei topped the global foldable smartphone market, with a year-on-year increase of 257%, followed by Samsung and Honor.

In Q1 2024, Huawei became the leader in the global foldable smartphone market, especially in the book-style foldable phone category. Samsung and Honor followed closely behind.

Samsung performed somewhat sluggishly in this quarter, but its clamshell foldable phone still held the leading position in the market.

Lenovo Motorola achieved rapid growth with its clamshell RAZR series products.

ZTE, as a new player, launched a new clamshell foldable phone in the Japanese market.

The book-style foldable phones occupied the majority share in the foldable phone category; due to Chinese consumers' greater preference for book-style foldable phones, this category had the strongest year-on-year growth.

TapTechNews noted that the overall foldable phone market in the Chinese market increased by 94% year-on-year, most of which were horizontal book-style foldable phones; the North American market increased by 143% year-on-year, most of which were vertical clamshell foldable phones, and Motorola's share surpassed Samsung, with OnePlus occupying the third place.

Honor: year-on-year increase of 480%

Vivo: year-on-year increase of 331%

Huawei: year-on-year increase of 257%

Xiaomi: year-on-year increase of 41%

Samsung: year-on-year decrease of 25%
