Apple Releases Third Public Beta Versions of iOS 17.6, iPadOS 17.6, and macOS 14.6

TapTechNews July 11th news, Apple today released the third public beta version of iOS 17.6, iPadOS 17.6, and macOS 14.6 for early adopters. Non-developers can test the new system in advance, which is one week after the last public beta version.

iOS/iPadOS 17.6 Third Public Beta Version

Apple usually runs two separate test cycles every summer, one for the major new iOS update launched in the fall and the other usually for the last revision of the previous year's update, and this year is no exception.

iPhone users can currently choose between one of the iOS 18 and iOS 17.6 developer beta versions, and only one can be run at a time, so most beta users will likely choose iOS 18.

Apple iOS 17.6 should be the last version of the iOS 17.x branch, mainly introducing a brand new 'CatchUp' feature for the TV app, allowing users to watch some highlights of the game even if they missed the start.

In terms of the system, Apple iOS 17.6 focuses more on bug fixes, performance improvements, and stability enhancements. TapTechNews checked the public information, and Apple did not announce the new system features of iOS 17.6, but only fixed the following bugs:

Fix that some Bluetooth headphones may not be usable as an audio output path under certain AVAudioSession configurations.

Fix the incorrect values of videoRotationAngleForHorizonLevelCapture and videoRotationAngleForHorizonLevelPreview returned by AVCaptureDeviceRotationCoordinator when using the front camera on the iPad Air (6th generation) and iPad Pro (7th generation).

Fix that user notifications may not be displayed when an expired license application installed from the market fails to start.

Fix that the home screen icon may be disabled after reinstalling an uninstalled application from the market.
