Open Atom Open Source Foundation Releases openKylin 2.0 and Announces LTS Version

TapTechNews August 15th news, the OpenAtom Open Source Foundation just released the latest openKylin 2.0 version last week! This version gathers the wisdom and hard work of more than 6500+ developers and has received strong support from 110+ SIGs and 520+ enterprises.

After a community voting resolution, openKylin announced today that it will launch a long-term support version (LTS). In the future, the community will adopt a innovative version + LTS version parallel strategy:

Innovative version: One version is released every year, providing 1 year of passive update support

LTS version: One version is released every 3 years, providing 1 year of active update support + 1 year of passive update support

openKylin introduced that the LTS version will provide longer update support and security maintenance to ensure that users can develop, work and play in a more stable and reliable system environment, reducing the upgrade cost and incompatibility risks caused by major version iterations.

At present, the openKylin community has supported three mainstream architectures such as X86, ARM development board and RISC-V development board. In the subsequent version planning, the openKylin community will adopt a parallel development of multiple architectures strategy, and cooperate with industry-leading manufacturers such as Phytium, CECChip, Loongson, and Shenwei to gradually add ARM general, LoongArch, SW architecture mirror versions, and TapTechNews will also keep an eye on it.
