NIO's Fourth-Generation Battery Swap Stations Launch in China, Off-Car Battery Swap Function to be Available This Year

According to TapTechNews on June 13, this morning, NIO's first batch of fourth-generation battery swap stations officially went online this morning in Guangzhou and Lu'an. Then, NIO's vice president, Shen Fei, said that the离体 self-service battery swap function will be opened this year.

NIO previewed this function in April this year, and it supports the whole-process self-service battery swap. After the user parks the vehicle opposite the swap station, he gets out of the car and goes shopping. Then the vehicle enters the swap station by itself to complete the battery swap, and the whole process only takes about 11 minutes.

In addition to the fourth-generation swap station that went online today, some third-generation swap stations are also being renovated, and they will also have the off-car battery swap ability in the future.

The fourth-generation NIO battery swap station was released in December 2023, equipped with 23 battery compartments, with a maximum daily service of 480 times, and the single battery swap time is reduced by 22%; it is equipped with a 60-square-meter rooftop photovoltaic system, and each station saves nearly 18,000 kWh of electricity per year, becoming an integrated station of photovoltaic storage, charging and swapping.

The fourth-generation NIO battery swap station is equipped with 4 NVIDIA OrinX chips and 6 ultra-wide-angle LiDARs, and the total computing power of the whole station is 1016 TOPS; it is compatible with multi-spec battery packs and supports multi-brand shared battery swapping.

According to the plan, throughout 2024, NIO will add 1000 battery swap stations in the Chinese market, and the cumulative number of built stations will exceed 3310; add 20,000 charging piles, and the cumulative number of built charging piles will exceed 41,000.
