Insiders said that Audi made this decision considering the brand image, and it also reflects that Audi will use the vehicle architecture jointly developed with its Chinese partner SAIC Motor and will rely more on local suppliers and technologies.

The internal code name of this new all-electric vehicle series is Purple. The report pointed out that it is currently unknown whether this series will use a different logo or only use Audi for the car name.

Two insiders said that the first concept car of this series will be unveiled in November, and at that time Audi will also explain the brand story of this series. One of the insiders said that (the brand) plans to launch 9 models by 2030.

In response to this, Audi and SAIC responded as follows:

Audi: Refused to comment on the so-called speculation.

SAIC: These electric vehicles will be real Audis with pure Audi genes.

SAIC and Audi stated in May this year that the two sides will jointly develop an electric vehicle platform suitable for the Chinese market. The report said that developing cars specifically for the Chinese market enables foreign automakers to understand the latest electric vehicle functions and the tastes of Chinese users while still targeting a large customer base.

Insiders also revealed that Audi's new electric vehicle series will use CATL batteries and the advanced driving assistance system of the Chinese technology start-up Momenta. At the same time, this series will also use the electrical architecture of IM Motors.

TapTechNews note: Audi's four rings logo represents the four brands that formed the Auto Union Company in the 1930s-1940s - Audi, Horch, DKW, Wanderer. In March 2022, Audi announced that it would incorporate the Bentley brand into the group and announced that the current new four rings represents the four brands that are uniformly managed and independently operated by the Audi Group - Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati.
