Apple plans to split the AppStore team into two teams, one responsible for the AppStore and the other for supervising alternative application distribution channels. Since earlier this year, Apple has allowed iOS applications to be downloaded from alternative app stores and websites in the European Union, which is a change the company has to make to comply with the Digital Markets Act.

In order to handle the regulatory compliance issues regarding application distribution and alternative payment methods in the European Union, Phil Schiller, the head of the AppStore, is changing the hierarchical structure of the AppStore.

According to TapTechNews, Fischer joined Apple in 2003 to handle iTunes marketing and has been serving as vice president of the AppStore since 2010. Today, Fischer said in an email to Apple employees that he has been considering leaving Apple, and this restructuring provides the right opportunity.
