Shenzhen's First Autonomous Driving Bus Line B998 Officially Opens

TapTechNews August 26th news, TapTechNews learned from Shenzhen TV Shenzhen Vision News and Shenzhen Bus Group that the first autonomous driving bus line B998 autonomous driving dedicated line in Shenzhen was officially opened today.

According to the introduction, the B998 autonomous driving dedicated line has a total distance of 3.38 miles (about 5.44 kilometers), is equipped with 5 transport capacities, and the running time is about 25 minutes, with a departure interval of 30 to 60 minutes. The first and last stops of this line are Qianhai Cooperation Zone General Station, passing through Qianhai Building, Qianhai Financial Canyon East, Qianhai Bay Metro Station, Guiwan Metro Station, and Hongyi Building. Its service time is from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm (about 17:00), and it is free to make an appointment and take a ride during the pilot period.

The autonomous driving bus of this line is equipped with advanced autonomous driving technology, which can accurately realize complex operations such as lane line recognition, traffic light signal recognition, overtaking and lane changing, and can also safely and efficiently handle unprotected left turns at intersections without traffic lights, pass through intersections with mixed people and vehicles and traffic lights, identify and avoid occupied vehicles and construction areas, give way to pedestrians, and accurately stop at stations and other various difficult urban complex driving scenarios.

According to the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Intelligent Connected Vehicle Management Regulations, each vehicle of the B998 autonomous driving dedicated line is equipped with one vehicle, one shift, and one safety officer to ensure that manual intervention and emergency takeover measures can be quickly taken in specific scenarios. It should be noted that passengers taking the Qianhai autonomous driving bus must be at least 18 years old, have full capacity for civil conduct and be in good health.
