Apple's iPadOS18 Features Formatting External Drives, iCloud File Caching

TapTechNews reports on June 24th that developer KabelCadle has recently discovered a hidden feature in Apple's iPadOS18's 'Files' app that allows users to format external drives. Users can format attached USB flash drives/hard drives into APFS/ExFAT/FAT formats, somewhat similar to the 'Disk Utility' app provided by macOS.

In addition, Apple's iPadOS18 'Files' app also allows users to always cache iCloud files locally (TapTechNews note: Previously, Apple would remove the iCloud files that users downloaded to the local area irregularly). Users can long-press the file/folder to see the 'Keep Download' related button.

Also, Apple plans to release the iOS/ iPadOS18 Beta2 update next Monday and confirms that it will introduce two functions: iPhone mirroring and enhanced SharePlay screen sharing.

At the WWDC2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple demonstrated many new features and characteristics of iOS/iPadOS18, but not all were fully launched in the Beta1 update and are gradually being made available to users.
