Steam Player Account 'Inheritance Right' Issue

TapTechNews May 25th news, recently the issue of the inheritance right of the Steam platform player's account after their death has become a hot topic on overseas platforms such as ResetEra and Reddit. For this platform that is about to turn 21 years old, many players are now considering whether their relatives/friends/children can take over their accounts after their death.

In response, Valve recently replied, claiming that there is no inheritance right for Steam accounts, and the related accounts and the games in them (play rights) cannot be transferred. Even if the player clearly writes in the will I will give my Steam account to the designated person, Steam cannot provide the user with legal access rights, nor can it merge the game library content of the deceased player with another designated account.

TapTechNews learned through querying the Steam End User Agreement that according to Section 1 C of the user agreement User Account, it is written:

Your account, including any information related to it (such as contact information, billing information, account history, and subscriptions, etc.), is strictly personal. Therefore, you may not sell or charge others for the right to use your account, or otherwise transfer your account, nor may you sell, charge others for the right to use, or transfer any subscriptions, unless expressly permitted by this Agreement (including any subscription terms or usage rules) or with the 'pecial permission' of Valve.

Friends may notice the words Valve special permission written in the clause, but there is currently no known precedent of account inheritance. In 2015, on the Steam official forum, users suggested that Valve open the inheritance right of accounts, but Valve did not respond to the request.
