Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Actions on App Governance and Personal Information Protection

TapTechNews July 11th news, according to The Paper report, at today's 2024 (23rd) China Internet Conference - Personal Information Protection Forum, Shao Daoxin, deputy director of the Information and Communication Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that since this year, a total of relevant units have been ordered to rectify 1712 illegal Apps, publicly notified 506, and 78 that were not rectified properly were taken down to continuously purify the mobile Internet service environment.

Shao Daoxin said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has successively formulated and issued policy documents such as the Notice on Launching the Information and Communication Service Perception Enhancement Action and the Notice on Further Improving the Service Capability of Mobile Internet Applications, strengthening the whole-process and whole-chain governance of Apps and promoting the double improvement of user service perception and industry management capabilities.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regularly conducts App technical detection and continuously rectifies problems that violate users' rights and interests such as collecting and using personal information without permission, forcibly demanding permissions, and random jumps of 'Shake Shake'. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also promotes the construction of a public service platform for App detection and certification, continuously improving the technical capabilities such as App monitoring and detection, risk early warning, traceability certification, and data mining.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released the first domestic personal information protection AI large model, the Zhiyu assistant this year, providing intelligent services for App development and operation, detection and protection, and policy interpretation. The Zhiyu AI large model is developed by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and provides multi-modal and diversified services such as compliance consultation, risk detection, code generation, and operation guidance for upstream and downstream entities in the industry such as mobile Internet application developers, distribution platforms, terminal manufacturers, and detection institutions, building a new paradigm of AI-enabled personal information protection.
