And one of the biggest risks Google faces is that the judge may require Google to terminate the cooperation with Apple regarding the default search engine of the Safari browser.

Over the past few years, Google has tried various ways to attract iPhone users to use Google apps and switch to the Chrome browser. Although it has had some effect, the proportion of this search method has increased from 25% five years ago to 30%, but it has stalled since the second half of last year.

According to court documents, in 2022, this agreement brought Apple more than 20 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 145.656 billion Chinese yuan) in revenue, of which 36% came from advertising revenue generated by searches on the Safari browser.

The agreement has a significant financial impact on both companies. For Apple, Google's payment is an important source of revenue and accounts for a large proportion of its profits. If the court makes a ruling unfavorable to Google, Apple will lose about 70% of the iPhone's search rights. This will seriously affect Google's mobile search advertising revenue, which is a major source of Google's 207 billion US dollars in search advertising revenue in 2023.
