The Jidayuan High-Speed Railway is an important part of China's eight horizontal and eight vertical high-speed railway network Hunan Passage. The line connects Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north, passes through Datong City, Shuozhou City, and Xinzhou City in Shanxi Province, and merges into the Daxi High-Speed Railway, and connects with the Zhangda High-Speed Railway, the Zhengtai High-Speed Railway and the under-construction Xiongxin High-Speed Railway. It is expected to have the conditions for opening and operation by the end of this year.

The newly built line length of the entire line is about 168 miles, with a designed speed of 155 miles per hour. By then, the railway travel time from Hohhot to Taiyuan will be shortened from the current fastest more than 5 hours to about 2.5 hours.

During the joint commissioning and testing period, test trains, comprehensive test trains, test EMUs, etc. will be used to comprehensively test various systems and equipment of the Jidayuan High-Speed Railway, and conduct performance tests on systems such as power supply, communication, signal and passenger service, and disaster monitoring, and evaluate and verify the track, bridge, and tunnel to ensure that the functions and performances of each system meet the design requirements and have the conditions for opening.
