PPLPLab Launches Power Supply Efficiency Star Rating Program

TapTechNews on May 20, the power supply testing organization PPLPLab today launched the power supply efficiency star rating program.

The power supply evaluation system currently includes two tests: the power supply efficiency star rating and the ATX3 star rating, and in the future, silent star rating and construction quality star rating tests will be added.

PPLPLab claims that its team has testing experience with more than 500 power supplies and has also provided design suggestions to manufacturers in addition to test data.

Similar to the two third-party power supply certification systems of 80PLUS and Cybenetics, the power supply efficiency star rating certification of PPLPLab also uses metals as the grade name. However, there is no white label in PPLPLab's system, and the highest SUPERTi level is added.

The measurement scales of the PPLPLab power supply efficiency star rating certification include the average static load efficiency, 50% load efficiency, low-load conversion efficiency, static voltage ripple, static voltage deviation, static voltage adjustment, standby power, and average power factor. At the same time, gold and above power supplies must also pass the ATX3 test.

And the ATX3 test of PPLPLab includes further requirements in aspects such as hold time. The test results are divided into two sub-levels of ATX3PASS and ATX3+PASS according to the degree of passing.

It is worth noting that this test system includes continuous re-testing: PPLPLab will purchase the commercial versions of the previously tested products irregularly every year for re-inspection, and update the certification star rating according to the new test results.

The first batch of products added to the PPLPLab test database comes from Corsair, 1st Player, MSI, Super Flower, Sama, (Great Wall) Hunting Gold Tribe, Lian Li, DeepCool, Segotep and Enermax.
