Referencing the TapTechNews report on May 14th, Softstar revealed at that time that it intended to sell the copyrights of 'Chinese Paladin' and 'Xuan Yuan Jian' outside of mainland China, because the relevant IPs have become 'old', and the existing R & D team of Softstar 'generally focuses on the glorious history of the single-player era decades ago', but the game industry has already 'times have changed', and'modern young people are no longer fanatical about series works'.

The new general manager Chen Yaotian disclosed that in the ten years since the chairman of Softstar, Tu Junguang, took over Softstar, the company has transformed from the dying state at that time to an all-round and diversified group. In the past six years, although the company's R & D business has suffered a loss of more than 500 million New Taiwan dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 113 million yuan RMB), 'Softstar can still make a profit every year until last year'.

Chen Yaotian said that now the revenue proportion of Softstar's game business is getting lower and lower. In 2023, the game revenue accounted for less than 15%, and in the first quarter of 2024, it accounted for less than 9%. The future strategic direction of the company is mobile games and online games, and it will leave the single-player game business with fierce competition and gradually shrinking market share.
