Dell Technologies' Layoffs and Restructuring Focus on AI and Market Changes

TapTechNews August 6th news, according to a report by Bloomberg today, Dell Technologies is laying off staff, which is part of its sales team reorganization measures. The reorganization measures also include establishing a new team focused on AI products and services.

"We are becoming more streamlined," sales team executives Bill Scannell and John Byrne wrote in a memo to Dell employees on Monday, "We are streamlining management and adjusting the priority of investment."

In addition to the team focused on artificial intelligence, executives also said that the company will change the way data center sales operate. A spokesperson refused to comment on how many positions will be affected.

"By reorganizing the market-facing team and taking a series of actions, we are becoming a more streamlined company," the spokesperson said.

TapTechNews noted that the analysis agency TechInsights report shows that among the mainstream laptop manufacturers in the second quarter of 2024, Dell is the only manufacturer that has experienced a year-on-year decline, but the decline is relatively small (-1%), and its laptop shipments are 8.3 million units, ranking third in the world in terms of market share, after Lenovo and HP.
