Jaguar's Plan to Fully Embrace Electrification and New Electric Concept Car

TapTechNews August 9th news, according to today's report by Autocar, although the demand for electric vehicles in the market is not stable, Jaguar still insists on its plan to fully embrace electrification next year. In December this year, Jaguar will release a radical new electric concept car - a £100,000 (TapTechNews note: currently about 913,000 Chinese yuan) four-door coupe with a range of more than 435 miles (about 700.06 kilometers), supporting super-fast charging and equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with more than 575 horsepower.

This brand-new concept car will set the tone for Jaguar's first four-door pure electric coupe and will establish a brand-new design language for the brand, which will be applied to mass-produced SUVs and large luxury sedans around 2028. However, the official did not disclose the main exterior information of this new car, only stating that the hood ornament has been redesigned for the new model, and it adopts a design without a rear window.

Jaguar general manager Rawdon Glover said in an interview that one of the priorities when designing these new cars is to rethink the basic principles of electric vehicle design, because today's electric vehicles have a similar appearance, as they stay in the wind tunnel for too long in order to increase the range. He added: If we look closely, this field appears to be very homogeneous, and I suspect this may be one of the reasons why the electric vehicle market is slightly stagnant. In fact, what you want to do is a car that challenges these conventions.

Glover also said that the brand's high price and low production target (up to 50,000 vehicles per year) means it pays less attention to mainstream market trends. We have chosen a strategy of value first rather than quantity first.

The delivery of the new electric GT in the UK will not be earlier than 2026, so for about the whole year of 2025, there will be no new Jaguar models in the market. Meanwhile, Glover said that dealers will increase their focus on used cars and after-sales services, but indeed, there will be a period when you cannot buy a new Jaguar.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, Jaguar announced in July a significant streamlining of its models, and by the end of this year, only the F-Pace SUV will be left on sale. This move is to make room for the upcoming new all-electric vehicle series.

The models that will be discontinued include the XE sedan, the XF sedan and wagon, the F-Type sports car, and even Jaguar's first all-electric model, the I-Pace. Adrian Mardell, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, said that these soon-to-be-discontinued models have a profitability close to zero.
