Golden Label Alliance Announces 64-bit Adaptation Deadline for Android Apps

TapTechNews May 24th, the Mobile Intelligent Terminal Ecosystem Alliance (Golden Label Alliance) officially announced today that in order to better improve the Android application compatibility experience and avoid the problem of applications being unable to be installed and used on new machines in the second half of 2024, all developers must complete the 64-bit adaptation before August 31, 2024.

At that time, the three members of the Golden Label Alliance, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi, will gradually clean up the 32-bit applications in the store and implement relevant risk warning and other measures for the 32-bit applications that are not on the shelf.

As of May 23, 2024, the full adaptation rate of the three software stores has reached more than 98.65%, but there are still more than 4900 (99% not on the shelf) key applications that affect users' daily lives and have not been adapted to 64-bit.

TapTechNews note: The Golden Label Alliance is an open and non-profit social organization voluntarily jointly initiated and established by Chinese intelligent terminal manufacturers OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Ali, Baidu, and Tencent. In November 2022, Lenovo announced its加入 (joining) to the Golden Label Alliance. In April 2023, Bubugao announced its加入 (joining) to the Golden Label Alliance.

In order to better improve the Android application performance experience and reduce the power consumption impact of Android applications, in April 2023, the application stores of OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and other members of the Golden Label Alliance clearly defined the relevant time nodes for 64-bit application adaptation. Since July 1, 2023, the application stores of OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi have begun to gradually clean up applications that only support 32-bit.
