TapTechNews June 11th news, for users who purchased Apple TV HD in 2015, this might be an unexpected surprise: After nine years, this device will still continue to receive software updates.
Confirmed by the Apple Developer website, the tvOS 18 update released today will be compatible with all Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K models. The compatibility list is as follows:
Apple TV HD (2015)
Apple TV 4K (2017)
Apple TV 4K (Second Generation) (2021)
Apple TV 4K (Third Generation) (2022)
tvOS 18 brings a new feature called InSight, which can display actor, character and music information about Apple TV+ TV dramas and movies. In addition, this update also includes improvements to enhanced dialogue clarity and subtitles, new screen savers, and support for playing videos in a 21:9 ratio on projectors (see previous related reports of TapTechNews for details).
The tvOS 18 developer beta version is available for download to members of the Apple Developer Program from today, and the public beta version will be launched in July. It is expected that the update will be pushed to all compatible Apple TV devices in the formal version in September.
