China Releases eVTOL Landing Field Standard

TapTechNews May 22nd news, according to CCTV News, on May 22nd, the China Civil Airport Association released the 'Technical Requirements for Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft (eVTOL) Landing Fields' group standard at the 5th China Airport Development Conference.

This standard was officially initiated for compilation at the end of 2023 and is the first technical specification for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) landing fields in China.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Central and South Bureau led and organized the type certification of the EHang EH216-S, and the world's first certified eVTOL was thus born in China, indicating that this model of unmanned aircraft complies with the airworthiness requirements of the Civil Aviation Administration and has the safety ability for manned operation.

At the same time, the commercial operation of eVTOL is imminent, and the scientific construction and standard construction research work of eVTol landing fields also appears particularly urgent.

In this context, it was jointly initiated by the Guangdong Province UAV Industry Association, Wuhan Haiyi Technology Co., Ltd., EHang Intelligent Equipment (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., CITIC Offshore Helicopter Co., Ltd., and China Southern Airlines General Aviation Co., Ltd., and submitted to the China Civil Airport Association a project application for the 'Technical Standard for the Construction of Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft (eVTOL) Landing Fields' national group standard.

TapTechNews noted that this standard is divided into 11 chapters, clearly explaining many technical parameters such as the physical characteristics, obstacle restrictions, site selection, structural design, and dedicated facilities and equipment of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) landing fields.
