Apple Officially Discontinues USB SuperDrive, Marking an Eras End_0

According to TapTechNews, the SuperDrive is an external optical drive that Apple launched along with the MacBook Air in 2008, mainly used to read CDs and DVDs. Although the usage frequency of optical discs has significantly decreased in recent years, Apple has insisted on selling this accessory. However, according to the latest news, the SuperDrive has been removed from Apple's US official website and shows as sold out. Considering that this product has been launched for many years, it is unlikely that Apple will resume production.

Although there are still SuperDrive inventories in some regions such as the UK and Brazil, it is expected to be completely sold out soon.

The MacBook Air is the first MacBook without a built-in CD drive, which prompted the company to introduce a separately sold external optical drive. Apple completely cancelled the optical drive in all Mac computers in 2013, and all Macs no longer have a CD reader.

Although it is still possible to buy the SuperDrive through third-party channels currently, the price is relatively high (priced at 79 US dollars), only supports the USB 2.0 interface, and does not support Blu-ray discs.
