Samsung Releases New True Wireless Earphones with Innovative Designs and Features

Samsung released new smartwatch and foldable phone models on July 10th. At the same time, they also launched two new true wireless earphone models: Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Galaxy Buds3. Samsung abandoned the previous low-key in-ear design and adopted a design with an earphone stem, and the appearance (especially the white version) is very similar to Apple's AirPods. However, the gray version with the angular blade design somewhat reminds people of Tesla's Cybertruck pickup. But in general, both of these earphones are inevitably reminiscent of Apple's popular AirPods series.

Samsung's press release stated that the switch to the stem design originated from a large amount of statistical data analysis, and the result shows that this design can bring better wearing comfort and stability.

TapTechNews noticed that the operation method of Galaxy Buds is now basically the same as that of AirPods Pro. Play/pause/switch tracks can be controlled by pinching gestures, and volume adjustment is through sliding operations.

The Buds3 Pro priced at $249.99 has a highlight in design: each earphone has a slender blade light that can light up to show the Bluetooth pairing status and can also be set to always be on.

The Pro version of the earphones adopts an in-ear design with silicone earplugs, while the standard version Buds3 priced at $179.99 adopts an open design, suitable for users who don't like the feeling of their ears being blocked. It is worth noting that both earphones support active noise reduction function. The Buds3 Pro has an upgraded adaptive noise reduction function that can automatically adjust the noise reduction intensity according to the environment. When the earphones detect important sounds (such as sirens), the noise reduction intensity will be temporarily reduced to allow users to hear these sounds. In addition, the Buds3 Pro is equipped with a two-way driver unit, while Buds3 only has a single driver unit, so it is expected that Buds3 Pro will have a more outstanding performance in terms of sound quality.

Both earphones have an IP57 dustproof and waterproof rating, and both support wireless charging. Samsung's proprietary Bluetooth codec can now wirelessly transmit audio up to 24-bit/96 kHz, provided that it is used with Samsung's recently released phones. As before, Samsung still does not support the LDAC format. The multi-point connection function is still absent, and these earphones only support automatic switching between Samsung devices.

The battery life of the Pro version is slightly stronger. It can play for 6 hours with the noise reduction function turned on, and the total battery life with the charging case reaches 26 hours. The corresponding values for the regular version Buds3 are 5 hours and 24 hours. If the noise reduction function is not turned on, it can reach 6 hours and 30 hours respectively.

Samsung claims that thanks to the addition of Ultra-Wideband Voice Technology (this function has already appeared on the competing Pixel Buds Pro), the call quality of the new series of earphones will be greatly improved.

Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Buds3 have both started pre-order, and the pioneer program will be given priority for delivery on July 20th.
