72 Used Mobile Phones Seized in a Smuggling Case at Gongbei Customs

TapTechNews August 7th news, according to the disclosure of Customs Release today, the Gongbei Customs under the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs seized a smuggling case. The customs officersfound 72 used mobile phones hidden in the modified battery box of an inbound Guangdong-Macao cross-border vehicle with two license plates.

TapTechNews learned that when the customs officers patrolled the inbound lane on July 31st,they found that the driver of a certain Guangdong-Macao cross-border vehicle with two license plates looked nervous, and the vehicle inspection image also showed that there was an abnormality at the front of the vehicle. The customs officers immediately conducted a further inspection on the vehicle and seized 72 used mobile phones from the modified battery box in the vehicle engine compartment.

According to relevant regulations, transporting, carrying, or mailing goods and items that are prohibited or restricted from entering or leaving the country by concealing, disguising, underreporting, or in other ways to avoid customs supervision, or goods and items that should be taxed according to law entering or leaving the country is a smuggling act. If the circumstances are serious and constitute a crime, criminal responsibility will be pursued according to law.
