Microsoft Deprecated DirectAccess for AlwaysOnVPN

TapTechNews on June 12, another Microsoft product has become history. To make way for AlwaysOnVPN, Microsoft announced that the DirectAccess function is now deprecated and will be removed in future Windows versions.

In simple terms, this function is an important feature of Windows Server, which allows remote users to connect to the organizational network without the need for a traditional virtual private network (VPN).

AlwaysOnVPN is a new feature of Windows Server that provides easier remote access and better security protection measures, and supports devices that are both in and out of the domain. In addition, AlwaysOnVPN is also compatible with modern authentication methods such as AzureAD and multi-factor authentication.

Microsoft said: AlwaysOnVPN is available in all Windows versions, and this platform feature can support providing to third parties through UWPVPN plug-ins.

You can migrate to AlwaysOnVPN by planning the migration process, deploying new VPN infrastructure next to DirectAccess, configuring client devices, and then deactivating DirectAccess.
