Japanese AI Chip Enterprise PFN Forms Alliance with SBIHoldings

TapTechNews August 27th news, the Japanese AI chip unicorn enterprise PreferredNetworks (hereinafter referred to as PFN) announced today that it has formed a capital and business alliance with the Japanese financial giant SBIHoldings for the development and commercialization of the next-generation AI semiconductor of PFN.

According to the agreement signed between PFN and SBIHoldings, the two enterprises plan to jointly develop the next-generation AI semiconductor of PFN and work together to promote the commercialization of the chip, and cooperate in the packaging and testing process of this chip.

In addition, the parent company of SBIHoldings, SBI Group, plans to invest up to 10 billion yen in PFN through SBIHoldings (TapTechNews note: currently about 494 million yuan) by the end of September 2024.

Referring to previous reports, the next-generation AI chip mentioned in the PFN press release should point to the AI accelerator that Samsung Electronics uses the 2nm process and I-CubeS advanced packaging to contract-manufacture for PFN.
