Meta Resumes AI Training Plan with British User Data on Facebook and Instagram

TapTechNews September 14th news, Meta company yesterday (September 13th) released a press release, announcing to restart the AI training plan in a responsible and transparent way, and using the public posts of British users on Facebook and Instagram to train AI.

Meta claims to have revised and launched a new 'opt-out' scheme according to the rectification requirements of the regulatory agency to further improve data transparency.

Meta says this move is to further optimize the generative AI so that it can'reflect British culture, history and idioms'. Regarding the specific differences of its latest data collection, it is not very clear yet.

Meta announced that it will start notifying British users in the app from next week to explain the measures it is taking, and the company then plans to start training its AI with public content in the next few months.

TapTechNews note: Three months before the announcement, Meta suspended its plan due to regulatory pressure in the UK. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is worried that Meta's use of British user data to train its generative AI algorithm behavior will threaten user privacy.
