Gurman said that the initial cooperation between Apple and OpenAI does not include hard cash, that is, in the initial stage of cooperation, Apple will not pay OpenAI, and OpenAI will not pay Apple.

Gurman disclosed the details of the negotiation between the two parties. Apple believes that integrating ChatGPT into iOS18 will bring 'exposure rate' to OpenAI, which has 'equal or higher value'.

TapTechNews translated part of the blog post as follows:

The cooperation contents include integrating ChatGPT in Siri and the new writing tool, which can respond to information requests in plain language.

Although the terms of the transaction have not been made public, however, people familiar with the matter revealed that Apple will not pay the cooperation fee to OpenAI. Apple believes that promoting OpenAI's brand and technology to hundreds of millions of iPhones, its value is equal to or exceeds the cash transaction.

Gurman said that Apple and other companies such as OpenAI will further explore cooperation. Apple hopes to share the revenue of AI-related businesses with companies such as OpenAI and Google (previously, it was reported that iPhone will support Gemini) in the future. OpenAI and other companies provide various AI services, and Apple will continue to play the role of a 'platform' to draw commission fees.
