It is reported that Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be equipped with the brand new Tensor G4 chip, which will be the last Tensor processor to adopt some of Google's customized solutions. Starting from the 2025 Pixel 10 series, Google will fully independently design the Tensor chip (code-named Tensor G5). Moreover, the Tensor G5 will be manufactured with TSMC's second-generation 3nm process technology instead of Samsung's 4nm process.

According to the information released by the Russian tech website Rozetked, the Tensor G4 will adopt a 1+3+4 core architecture, including a Cortex-X4 performance core with a maximum clock speed of 3.1 GHz, three Cortex-A720 balanced cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.95 GHz. TapTechNews noted that compared to the current Tensor G3 used by the Pixel 8 series, the number of cores of Tensor G4 is slightly reduced (G3 is 9 cores), but the core frequencies have increased.

In terms of benchmarks, Rozetked announced the Antutu benchmark scores of the three new Pixels: Pixel 9 scored 1,071,616, Pixel 9 Pro scored 1,148,452, and Pixel 9 Pro XL topped with 1,176,410. In contrast, the benchmark of Pixel 8 is close to 900,000 and that of Pixel 8 Pro is 1,142,984.

It should be noted that the non-final version software is used in the benchmark test, so the final score of the Pixel 9 series after its official listing may be even higher. However, judging from the currently leaked information, the performance improvement of the Pixel 9 series may be relatively limited.
