BYD's Concept Car OCEAN-M Officially Named Seal 06GT to Debut at Chengdu Auto Show
TapTechNews August 23rd news, Zhang Zhuo, the general manager of BYD Auto's Ocean Network Sales Division, announced this afternoon that the concept car OCEAN-M that debuted at the Beijing Auto Show has been officially named Seal 06GT. This car is positioned as a pure electric midsize sedan and is built based on the e-platform 3.0 Evo.
Zhang Zhuo said that this car combines many of BYD's world's first technologies, bringing excellent performance in aesthetics, safety, comfort, intelligence, efficiency and other aspects. The car will be officially unveiled at the August 30th Chengdu Auto Show. On the official poster shown by Zhang Zhuo, the car is claimed to be The first GT for young people.
Previously, BYD officially called this car the industry's first hatchback rear-wheel-drive pure electric hot hatch. This car has been declared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with length, width and height of 4630/1880/1490 millimeters respectively, and a wheelbase of 2820 millimeters. It will provide 18-inch and 19-inch wheel rims, and can optionally install chrome trim strips on the side skirt panels, front radar, wheel rims, etc.
In terms of power, the new car adopts two power layouts of single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive. Among them, the single-motor model provides two different power drive motors, with the maximum power of 160 kilowatts and 165 kilowatts respectively. The dual-motor model is equipped with a front AC asynchronous motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, and the power of the two motors is 110 kilowatts and 200 kilowatts respectively.
Earlier this month, after the 2025 BYD Seal and Seal 07DM-i went on the market, Zhang Zhuo said that by 2026, the Ocean Network will complete the layout of 14 models to form a full-product matrix.
Zhang Zhuo further stated that the Seal series is not a single product, but a product family, from Seal 09, Seal 08, Seal 07, Seal 06, Seal 05, 56789 covering from class A to class C, taking into account EV and DM. Sea Lion will be the collection of all SUVs in the Ocean Network, and will also form a product matrix of 56789.
The 27th Chengdu International Auto Show will be held from August 30th to September 8th, 2024 at China Western International Expo City in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
