Firefox Browser Version 126.0 Released with New Features and Improvements

Thank you to TapTechNews users Jiyinke, Coje_He, and Microsoft afraid for the tip-offs! TapTechNews reported on May 15th that Firefox browser version 126.0 has been released for all users. This update introduces a copy without site tracking feature that removes parameters from nested URLs. The feature also includes expanded support for over 300 tracking parameters that block copied links (including links from major shopping websites), helping users stay away from these website trackers when sharing links. Firefox now supports content encoding: zstd (zstandard compression). This is an alternative to web content brotli and gzip compression, providing higher compression levels with the same CPU usage, or lower CPU usage with the same compression level. This technology is widely used on websites like Facebook. TapTechNews noted that Firefox 126.0 also supports translation in Catalan and enables AV1 hardware decoding acceleration for M3Mac on macOS. Firefox 126.0 also introduces a telemetry feature that allows for search aggregation counts by category, providing extensive information for search function development. These categories are based on 20 advanced content types such as sports, business, and travel. The data is not associated with specific users, and will be collected using OHTTP to remove potential identifying metadata such as IP addresses. No analysis will be done on the data, and no data will be shared with third parties. Mozilla officials also stated that the URL paste suggestion feature added in Firefox 125 has been temporarily disabled. Once performance issues are resolved, the feature will be re-enabled in future versions. Firefox 126.0 includes various bug fixes and adds support for the screen wake lock API.
