Previously, it was reported that defects were found in the mass production process of the second-generation 3nm process in Samsung's foundry, resulting in the scrapping of 2500 lots. In terms of 12-inch wafers, it is equivalent to 65000 wafers per month, with losses exceeding 1 trillion South Korean Won (TapTechNews note: currently about 5234 million Chinese Yuan).

Samsung refuted this rumor, calling it 'groundless' and is still assessing the current situation of products on the affected production line.

Industry insiders believe that the numbers in the reports may be exaggerated, and pointed out that Samsung's 3-nanometer capacity is less than 60000 wafers per month. In addition, there are a large number of inspection processes throughout the production process, so it is unlikely that such a large-scale defect will occur.
