Apple's New iPhone to Adopt Stainless Steel Battery Case to Comply with EU Regulation

According to TapTechNews on July 1, the European Parliament passed a new regulation in 2023, requiring that the batteries in all household appliances and consumer electronic products (including mobile phones, game consoles, etc.) should be easily removable and replaceable for consumers, and it will take effect officially in 2027.

Last night, Tianfeng International analyst Guo Mingqi disclosed that the new iPhone will adopt a stainless steel battery case. This improvement can reduce the difficulty of disassembling the battery to comply with EU regulations, and at the same time can increase the density of the battery cell ( can be increased by 5-10%) under the compliance with safety regulations, which can be said to kill two birds with one stone.

Guo Mingqi had released breaking news on May 17, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will use this stainless steel battery case for the first time to improve the heat dissipation performance and protection, and Xinwei Communications has become the main supplier of the stainless steel battery case.

TapTechNews noticed that last month there was news that Apple is studying using a new electrically-induced adhesive detachment technology to make it easier to replace the batteries of iPhone series models, which is Apple's countermeasure as the EU legislation approaches.

It is reported that if Apple's new technology is gradually launched as planned, then this technology will debut on at least one iPhone 16 model this year, and will be expanded to all versions of the iPhone 17 series next year.
