China Mobile Showcases 6G Baseband Concept Prototype System and Network Simulation Platform

TapTechNews October 6th news, during the Collaborative Mass Innovation, Smart Future Startup - 6G Innovation and Development Forum hosted by China Mobile at the end of September, China Mobile, Zhongguancun Pan-Link Institute, CICT Mobile and vivo etc. demonstrated a 6G baseband concept prototype system for the Sub7GHz band.

This system, as an important part of the 6G Sensing-Communication-Computing-Intelligence Convergence Technology Platform, has a flexible and open system architecture and was selected as one of the top ten digital technology achievements of state-owned enterprises in 2024 and a major scientific and technological achievement of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum.

China Mobile introduced that the 6G baseband concept prototype system for the Sub7GHz band is an important core of China Mobile for the public test device base of the depth convergence of sensing-communication-computing-intelligence and the integration of heaven and earth. This system has the following characteristics:

Firstly, strong basic capabilities. The system is based on cloud-based heterogeneous hardware, supports 100 Gbps container network throughput, realizes an ultrashort TTI processing capability of 125 us, and has a maximum interruption response delay of less than 10 μs, with flexible and reconfigurable characteristics. It has a system capacity of 8 streams and 128 digital channels and a single-carrier bandwidth of 400 MHz, which can achieve a baseband real-time throughput rate of up to 16.5 Gbps, fully meeting the high requirements of 6G new technology and business verification.

Secondly, strong openness. The system realizes the docking of the cloud-based heterogeneous hardware base developed by China Mobile in conjunction with Zhongguancun Pan-Link Institute and the sub7GHz AAU developed by CICT Research and the terminal prototype prototype developed by vivo, and realizes the through-connection of the base station to the terminal service surface, supporting the transmission of 3D video services. The system has an open sharing capability and supports the joint verification of 6G key technologies with industrial partners.

Thirdly, strong expansibility. In response to the verification requirements of key technologies in the new 6G band, China Mobile, in conjunction with Zhongguancun Pan-Link Institute, independently designed a multi-band fusion general前传 module, which is connected to the BBU of the 6G baseband concept prototype system through an ultra-high-speed CPRI interface, realizing the transmission of a wide range of flexible variable intermediate frequency signals from 0 to 12 GHz, enabling the system to efficiently dock with multi-band radio frequency front-ends such as medium and low frequency, millimeter wave, visible light, and terahertz, achieving multi-band adaptability and more convenient verification of key devices and baseband processing technologies in new bands.

The 6G baseband concept prototype system for the Sub7GHz band, as the core content of the 6G sensing-communication-computing-intelligence fusion R & D test device, will serve the entire process of innovation in 6G key technologies, system design, standard setting, industrial development, and network tests.

The 6G Sensing-Communication-Comp uting-Intelligence Convergence ・ Open Network Simulation Platform realizes a flexible and extensible architecture with high cohesion and low coupling through the division of protocol levels and modular design, and can conduct a comprehensive and systematic evaluation of 6G network key technologies. This platform supports four capabilities: multiple scenarios, diverse channels, multiple-point verification, and multi-dimensional evaluation.
