Dongfeng Motor's New Energy Vehicle Performance and Future Plans in 2024

From January to June 2024

The sales volume of new energy vehicles of Dongfeng Motor is 380,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 118.4%.

The sales volume of self-owned brand vehicles is 664,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 45.5%.

The sales volume of vehicle exports is 112,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 9.1%.

In June 2024

The sales volume of new energy vehicles is 81,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 119.3%.

The sales volume of self-owned brand vehicles is 119,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 45.1%.

The sales volume of vehicle exports is 23,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 31%.

In June this year, Japanese media reported that Nissan Motor will start to produce electric vehicles for its Chinese joint venture partner Dongfeng Motor in Wuhan before the end of this year - the Lantu "Zhiyin". Nissan Motors aims to reduce fixed costs and increase the operating rate of the factory by producing electric vehicles for Dongfeng Motor.

In March this year, Zhang Yupu, director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, once said that state-owned auto enterprises have not developed fast enough in new energy vehicles. The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission will adjust policies and conduct separate evaluations of the new energy vehicle business of the three central auto enterprises (FAW, Dongfeng, and Changan).

Here are the 2024 goals previously announced by the three auto central enterprises:

FAW Group: The 2024 goal is that the sales volume of self-owned brands "must reach" 900,000 units and strive for 1,000,000 units, and the sales volume of new energy vehicles of self-owned and joint venture brands reaches 500,000 units;

Changan Automobile: It will sprint towards the sales target of 2.8 million units in 2024, and will launch more than 30 new energy products by 2028;

Dongfeng Motor: It strives to reach the sales target of 3.2 million units in 2024. Through cooperation with Huawei, both sides will launch products that meet the "differentiated needs" of customers.
