BAIC Group, CATL and Time Electric Service Sign Battery Swap Project Agreement
On June 20, TapTechNews reported that BAIC Group, CATL, and Time Electric Service signed a framework agreement for the battery swap project on June 18. The purpose of this cooperation is to promote the standardization of battery swapping, and the specific contents include: development of battery swap vehicle models, development/ circulation of battery swap blocks, regional cooperation of battery swap stations, and battery-related data management.
This year, in January, CATL established a battery swap joint venture with Didi; on May 16, GAC Aion joined the Chocolate Battery Swap Alliance.
TapTechNews previously reported that with the cooperation reached between BAIC and CATL this time, the two sides plan to cooperate in aspects such as power battery supply, the introduction of battery swap and V2G technology, and the joint development and application of new products of the CIIC integrated intelligent chassis.

In terms of the new-generation intelligent chassis, the two sides will carry out cooperation on the CIIC skateboard chassis project for the next-generation pure electric platform. They will jointly conduct research on skateboard chassis architecture, system, process, cost, and performance balance, and create products by defining the vehicle, intelligence, and personalization combined with scenarios.
In the field of battery swap business, based on their respective advantages, the cooperation among the two sides and the wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL, Time Electric Service, will focus on the development of battery swap vehicle models and battery swap blocks, the circulation of battery swap blocks, and battery-related data management, and the regional cooperation of battery swap stations. The two sides and their subordinate companies will also carry out cooperation in the development and sales of relevant models in the heavy-duty truck battery swap business, as well as the associated battery sales, leasing, and energy services.
At the signing ceremony, BAIC Group, CATL, and Time Electric Service signed the framework agreement for the battery swap project, and BAIC Research Institute and Time Intelligent signed a letter of intent for key technologies of the new-generation platform.
