Fengyun-3 F Satellite Officially Operational in China, Boosting Weather Monitoring

TapTechNews July 1st news, according to the early morning report of CCTV News today, Fengyun-3 F satellite has now officially been put into operation. Fengyun-3 F satellite has passed the on-orbit test summary review and business trial operation of the ground and application systems on June 28 and has the conditions for formal business operation.

F satellite is the seventh satellite in the Fengyun-3 series and also the third solar synchronous morning orbit satellite in the Fengyun series. It was successfully launched at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on August 3, 2023, and started on-orbit testing on October 23 of the same year.

According to the introduction, Fengyun-3 F satellite is equipped with 10 operational instruments. Through full-spectrum, hyperspectral and quantitative observations, while observing the global atmosphere and surface environment, it can greatly improve the observation accuracy of the vertical profile of atmospheric temperature and humidity, atmospheric trace gases and the energy of the earth's radiation budget. After the F satellite is in business operation, it will take over from Fengyun-3 C satellite to carry out the comprehensive detection business of the global地气 system.

Fengyun-3 F satellite has played a fairly good application benefit in the monitoring services of the large-scale snowfall process that occurred in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia, the northeastern region, the northern part of North China and the northeastern part of the northwest in late January 2024, and the strong snowfall weather in Xinjiang, as well as the recent strong precipitation weather in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and other processes.

According to the deployment, the F satellite will be in operational组网 with other in-orbit Fengyun meteorological satellites as soon as possible to give full play to the cooperative observation advantage and support the precision monitoring business.

Fengyun-3 F satellite's first set of images was officially released to the public on November 13 last year. Compared with the C satellite, the spectral channel of the F satellite has increased by nearly 50 times, and the measurement accuracy and stability have been steadily improved.

In addition, Fengyun-3 G satellite was launched on April 16, 2023, mainly used for precipitation climatology research and precipitation monitoring of disastrous weather systems, and can provide three-dimensional structure information of precipitation in the global mid- and low-latitude regions. The China Meteorological Administration officially announced that Fengyun-3 G satellite was officially put into business operation on May 1.
