On May 23rd, IT Home reported that the latest RISC-V update has been merged into the under-development Linux 6.10 kernel.
In today's RISC-V merge Linux 6.10 patch, support for the Rust programming language under the RISC-V architecture has been added to the Linux kernel.
Previously, Linux has supported the use of Rust language in architectures such as x86_64, Loongson LoongArch, and ARM64. However, the use of Rust in the Linux kernel is still rather limited, and only some basic drivers have been adapted so far.
Linux 6.10 will also add more support for Qualcomm Snapdragon XElite processors, such as DisplayPort (DP) and EmbeddedDisplayPort (eDP) interfaces.
