TapTechNews noted that the previously released AppleVisionPro marked an important step for Apple in entering the field of mixed reality devices. However, people have been waiting for Apple to introduce more lightweight and more powerful augmented reality smart glasses. Although it is known that Apple is still in the research and development process, this product may not be available soon.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple has recommitted to developing smart glasses but is currently in the very early stages of research and development. Apple plans to launch lightweight smart glasses that can provide augmented reality (AR) features.

Some speculations suggest that Apple will release smart glasses in the next few years, potentially as early as 2026 or 2027. But Gurman believes this is overly optimistic. He said that none of the Apple insiders he interviewed thought smart glasses would be released within a few years. Gurman pointed out that Apple's 'Visual Products Team' has thousands of employees and is still hiring, indicating that they may still need several years to perfect the practicality of this AR glasses.

The rumors about Apple's AR smart glasses have been almost as long as those of the head-mounted device, which has been more than five years.

The concept of 'Apple Glass' is to create a device similar to regular glasses, with almost the same weight and volume. Users can wear it like regular glasses while also seeing additional AR elements in their field of view.

Compared to current head-mounted devices, developing such a product is much more difficult. In addition to the weight issue, Apple also needs to overcome the challenge of how to achieve augmented reality without blocking the user's line of sight.
