China's Automotive Extreme Environment Testing A New Chapter

TapTechNews June 14th, according to the China Automobile News, the China Automobile Center has jointly with the industry to open a new chapter in automotive extreme environment testing.

On June 13th, the 'Start-up Meeting of the Working Group for Establishing and Applying the Automobile Extreme Testing Evaluation Standard System' was successfully held in Turpan, Xinjiang. At the same time, the 'China Automobile Summer Testing' was announced to be implemented, truly restoring the high-temperature car usage scenario in summer and providing more authoritative and accurate automobile evaluation references for consumers.

TapTechNews noted that Huawei Hongmeng Zhixing, Jiangqi Group, BAIC Group, AITO Automobile, and Chery Automobile all publicly voiced their support for the establishment of the national standard system for automotive extreme testing.

Data shows that the China Automobile Technology Research Center Co., Ltd. (ChinaAutomotiveTechnology & ResearchCenterCo.Ltd), abbreviated as CATARC, is a scientific research institute established in 1985 according to the needs of the state for the management of the automobile industry and was approved by the National Science and Technology Commission. It is now under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

At the end of 2023, the controversial event of 'Winter Testing' by Dongchedi caused a heated discussion across the whole network. Including Huawei, Great Wall Motors, and Geely all expressed doubts about the testing standards. Dr. Wang Yao, assistant secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and minister of the Technology Department, said that the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers is cooperating with industry enterprises and professional testing institutions to jointly formulate new energy vehicle evaluation standards and plans to release them in the form of association group standards.

At the 2024 China Automobile Blue Book Forum held today, Yu Chengdong, the managing director of Huawei, chairman of the Terminal BG, and chairman of the Intelligent Automobile Solution BU, made the latest announcement that Hongmeng Zhixing supports the establishment of the national standard system for automotive extreme testing. The M9 of Wanjie, the new M7 Ultra of Wanjie, and the S7 of Zhijie will be summer-tested by the China Automobile Center.

Yu Chengdong also said that the winter testing of some media is very 'random and creative', and said the testing is 'not professional'.
