Meta Explores Development of AI Earbuds with Cameras

TapTechNews would like to thank the user Wuyingge for the tip-off. TapTechNews reported on May 14th that Meta is exploring the development of AI earbuds with cameras, hoping that these devices can be used to identify objects and translate foreign languages. Three 'insiders' revealed that the internal project is named Camerabuds. It is currently unclear whether the final design of the product will be in-ear earbuds or over-ear headphones, but Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg has tried several possible device designs and has been dissatisfied with all of them. In addition, insiders said that Meta's leadership originally expected to officially approve a prototype design in the first quarter of this year, but many testers found many problems, including long hair potentially covering the camera on the earbuds, the earbuds being too heavy/short battery life, and heat affecting the experience. In addition to Meta, several other tech companies are also developing AI wearable devices, including several startups such as Humane and Rabbit recently launching their own 'AI-specific devices'. However, according to TapTechNews' previous report, related products have been questioned by the public due to subscription fees and 'shell-gate'. Meta insiders said that leaders like Zuckerberg are currently eager to accelerate the development process of AI earbuds, because they believe that Meta's competitors will also develop similar devices.
