BlueOrigin's NewGlenn Rocket to Launch on October 13th for NASA's Mars Mission

The company said on Friday that the first flight will take place on October 13th and will carry two probes made by RocketLab to help NASA study the impact of the solar wind on Mars' atmosphere.

According to TapTechNews, This will be the first flight of the NewGlenn rocket after years of development delays, and this date just catches the best launch window to Mars, which occurs approximately once every two years depending on the alignment of the planets. According to ArsTechnica, this launch window starts from September 29th and continues until mid-October.

The mission will take off from Space Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base in Florida. NASA's Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorer mission (Escapade)'s twin spacecraft arrived in Florida on August 19th to begin preparations and integration with the launch vehicle.

The BlueOrigin company founded by Jeff Bezos is currently under great pressure and they must have the NewGlenn rocket ready in time. Bloomberg reported on Wednesday that there have been two malfunctions at the company's factory recently, resulting in hardware damage required for the second and third NewGlenn flights. However, a spokesperson told the media that the company is still expected to conduct the first launch this year.
