The new car features a retractable hardtop convertible design, weighing only 136 pounds (approximately 61.744 kilograms) more than the hardtop version, with a total weight of 3,439 pounds (approximately 1,561 kilograms). To accommodate the removable roof, the designers made minor adjustments to the appearance, added new support structures, and repositioned the cooling vents for the powertrain.

McLaren also adjusted the windshield frame and added a spoiler to reduce wind noise when driving with the top down. The hardtop cover of the car is made of lightweight carbon fiber composite material, and users can opt for a carbon fiber trim with a glossy finish.

For the convertible operation, the entire roof operation is controlled by 8 electric motors and can open or close in just 11 seconds at 31 mph (approximately 49.89 km/h).

The car comes with standard 15-spoke silver wheels and offers a variety of color options, including five standard colors, 20 Elite paint finishes, and 18 MSO trims. The standard audio system is a five-speaker setup, with the option to upgrade to a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with the Technology Pack, which includes a rear center speaker between the seats.

According to McLaren's official data, the car has an acceleration time of 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds, 0-124 mph in 8.4 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph (electronically limited). Additionally, the car can complete a quarter-mile sprint in 10.8 seconds.

The new Artura Spider in the Chinese market will be equipped with the M6303.0T V6 twin-turbocharged engine and a hybrid powertrain system consisting of an axially flux motor, with a total output of 680 horsepower. The car will offer four driving modes: pure electric (E-mode), comfort, sport, and track.

With a 7.4 kWh battery, the new car has a maximum range of 21 miles in pure electric mode. The new Launch and Spin function allows drivers to perform burnouts from a standstill by aggressively pressing the throttle pedal.

For braking, the 2025 Artura comes with carbon ceramic brake discs and lightweight aluminum calipers, with improved damping valves to enhance handling and driving comfort. Notably, McLaren has increased the response speed of the active damping control suspension system by 90%.
