Qimonda was originally the memory product division of Infineon and was spun off from Infineon in 2006. Qimonda once became the world's second-largest DRAM supplier and was also the first enterprise to invest in 12-inch wafers in the memory field.

However, due to reasons such as oversupply of DRAM and technical routes, Qimonda filed for bankruptcy with the German court on January 23, 2009. According to the report of the Financial Times on that day, Infineon held 77.5% of Qimonda's shares at that time.

The Qimonda bankruptcy administrator initially claimed about 3.4 billion euros from Infineon, and the nominal size of the agreement reached this time is 800 million euros. The difference between the 800 million euros and the actual compensation paid is the amount of the previous agreement.

Infineon said that after this settlement, all legal disputes and claims with the Qimonda bankruptcy administrator have been resolved, and the compensation funds will be provided by the reserved reserve and the additional part.
