Sony Releases Mid-Range Xperia 10 VI Smartphone with Snapdragon 6 Gen1 Chipset and 60Hz Screen

TapTechNews May 15 news, in addition to releasing the Xperia 1 VI phone, Sony also released the Xperia 10 VI phone, which is positioned in the mid-range market and inherits the style of its predecessor in terms of overall design.

Design

The phone weighs 164 grams and is equipped with a 6.1-inch 21:9 OLED display and Gorilla Glass Victus, with an IP68 protection rating.

Specifications

The Sony Xperia 10 VI phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery, dual front speakers, a 3.5mm port, and supports microSD cards.

In terms of processor, it uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset for the mid-to-low-end market (an upgrade from the outdated Snapdragon 695), 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage space.

Screen

The downside of the Sony Xperia 10 VI phone is that the screen does not have a high refresh rate, only reaching up to 60Hz. This is especially disappointing as even phones priced below $300 can offer 120Hz or 90Hz OLED screens.

Camera

The Sony Xperia 10 VI phone removes the predecessor's 8MP 2x telephoto lens, replacing it with a 48MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens (15mm) on the back, while the front camera is 8MP.

Updates

Sony promises to provide 3 major Android version updates and 4 years of security patches for the Xperia 10 VI phone. Although this falls short of Samsung's support, it is still an improvement over the 2+3 policy of the Xperia 10 V.

Price

Sony started accepting pre-orders in Europe on May 15, with a price of £349 in the UK (approximately 3176 RMB as of TapTechNews’ conversion) and €399 in other European regions.
