Apple Fixes App Store Error Leading to Developer Losses

TapTechNews on May 16th: Apple has recently fixed an error in the App Store where users were charged twice for refund fees when purchasing bundled apps, resulting in developers losing thousands of dollars over the past few months.

Developer Jeff Johnson discovered in February that Apple was charging developers fees for each sale of the StopTheMadnessPro app bundle instead of paying revenue.

Johnson hoped to sell new apps through bundling, providing a simple upgrade path for existing StopTheMadness app users.

Here's a brief explanation of this BUG by TapTechNews: The price of the new app is $14.99, while the price of the old app varies, but is usually around $9.99, resulting in a bundled price of about $5.

For apps already owned in the bundle, Apple only charges users the difference between the bundled price and the existing purchase amount, which is $5.

However, for developers, the mechanism of the Apple App Store is to refund the previous old version app first, then purchase the bundle, and developers only receive the $5 difference, causing them to owe Apple about $5 for each bundled app sold.
