China's 5G-A and 6G Advancements in Information and Communication

TapTechNews May 18th news, according to Xinhuanet, the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Conference was held in Ningbo on May 17. Zhang Yunming, the vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the Ministry clearly strengthens the breakthroughs of key technologies such as 5G-A and 6G, strengthens the research on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum communication, and strengthens the construction of the innovation system and innovation ecosystem, so that original and disruptive technological innovation achievements in the field of information and communication keep emerging.

It is known that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will accelerate the breakthrough of the core technologies in the information and communication industry, and fully improve the toughness and safety level of the industrial chain and supply chain. For the new industrialization, deepen the integrated application of '5G + industrial Internet' to help enterprises 'improve quality, transform digitally, connect to the network'. For social life, deepen the integrated innovation and application of digital technologies in the fields of education, medical care, and elderly care.

According to CCTV News reports, At present, China Mobile has taken the lead in promoting the commercial deployment of 5G-A in 100 cities and will expand to 300 cities within the year.

China Telecom has used 5G-A technology to create low-altitude dedicated networks at the city level in several cities such as Nanjing, Xi'an, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, empowering the low-altitude economic industry.

China Unicom has built a product system covering the entire industrial chain of 5G-A sensing-integrated, passive Internet of Things and other technologies, and is actively conducting pilot verifications.

According to TapTechNews' understanding, 5G-A is fully known as 5G-Advanced, also known as 5.5G, which is a key stage in the evolution from 5G to 6G. Compared to 5G, the new-generation 5.5G technology comprehensively surpasses in terms of rate, delay, connection scale and energy consumption, achieving a 10-fold improvement in network capacity, and is expected to achieve a peak rate of 10,000 Mbps downstream and 1,000 Mbps upstream, millisecond-level delay, low-cost hundreds of billions of Internet of Things, and space-air-ground integration.
