The statement said the partnership will combine MagicLeap's expertise in optics and device manufacturing with Google's technology platform. Google is one of MagicLeap's investors, and most of MagicLeap's equity is held by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

MagicLeap is known for its pioneering position in AR optics and device R & D. Its flagship product, MagicLeap2, is lightweight and portable while providing high-quality AR experiences and is designed to change the way we interact with digital content. And Google, as a tech giant, has strong technical reserves in the software platform and has been committed to building an interconnected ecosystem.

TapTechNews noted that this is not the first time Google has set foot in the AR field. Perhaps many people still remember Google Glass. Although Google's attempt in smart glasses has received mixed reviews, this time joining hands with MagicLeap to enter the AR field again shows their determination. This clearly indicates that Google is planning to use MagicLeap's strong hardware capabilities and their own software expertise to explore broader possibilities of AR.

The cooperation will bring huge benefits to both parties. For MagicLeap, collaborating with a large tech company like Google can bring their AR technology to a broader market. For Google, it is an opportunity to redefine its position in the AR field.

However, currently both MagicLeap and Google refused to disclose whether this cooperation is expected to launch consumer-level AR devices.
