US PC Market Growth Driven by Windows 10 End of Support and AI

Canalys expects that by the end of 2024, the total US PC shipment volume will reach 69 million units and will further increase by 8% to 75 million units in 2025.
The report points out that the Windows 10 operating system is about to stop being supported, which is one of the important factors driving the growth of the US PC market. Canalys analyst Greg Davis said: There are still a considerable number of users using the Windows 10 system, and in the next four months, the momentum of PC upgrade will be even stronger.
At the beginning of the year, due to the manufacturers' continuation of promotional activities during the holiday quarter, the US PC shipment volume performed well. Analyst Davis believes that due to the macroeconomic situation in the US remaining stable for several months, consumer and enterprise spending has increased.
TapTechNews noted that the report also mentioned that the upcoming new PC products with new artificial intelligence (AI) functions in the Apple and Windows ecosystems may further stimulate the market shipment volume to reach the expectations of analysts. Davis said: This timing coincides with the launch of new products with more on-device AI functions in the market, and the usage experience of these new products will attract consumers and enterprises in the Windows and Apple ecosystems.
Data shows that Apple computers occupy a considerable share (14.2%) in the US PC market share and achieved a 22% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2024. Lenovo became the winner among Windows PC manufacturers, with its shipment volume increasing by 22%, while the shipment volumes of Dell and HP have decreased, but these two manufacturers still maintain the highest market share in this quarter.
