Wuhan Company Fined for Violating Consumer Rights

TapTechNews May 12th news, recently, the Wuhan Municipal Market Supervision Administration announced typical cases of infringement of consumer rights, including a case of 'Wuhan Bai Bangzhi Xin Technology Co., Ltd. in Jianghan District, Wuhan using confusion and failure to clearly mark prices to harm consumer rights'

On April 10, 2024, the Market Supervision Administration of Jianghan District, Wuhan City, launched an investigation into Wuhan Bai Bangzhi Xin Technology Co., Ltd. based on consumer complaints. It was found that the use of the name 'Bai Bangzhi Xin' by the party involved was similar in pronunciation to the official authorized service provider 'Bai Bang' of Apple, leading consumers to mistakenly believe that it was an official Apple authorized repair point through online platforms; when signing a data recovery repair order with consumers, the repair price was not clearly stated, and the data recovery fee was only mentioned after the phone repair was completed; when providing repair services to consumers, it was falsely claimed that multiple solder joints in the phone needed to be repaired because of data recovery, deceiving consumers. The Wuhan Market Supervision Department stated that the above-mentioned actions of the party involved violated the relevant provisions of the 'Anti-Unfair Competition Law of the People's Republic of China', the 'Price Law of the People's Republic of China' and the 'Measures for the Punishment of Acts Infringing on Consumer Rights'. The Market Supervision Administration of Jianghan District, Wuhan City plans to issue a warning and a fine of 100,000 RMB for the illegal acts of confusion, failure to clearly mark prices, and false reporting of labor and materials, which harm consumer rights.
