Global Power Battery Market Update CATL Leads, Korean Players See Decline

TapTechNews July 3rd news, data released by the South Korean market research institute SNEResearch today shows that the total global installed capacity of power batteries from January to May this year increased by 23% year-on-year, reaching 285.4 GWh.

Among them, CATL's installed capacity increased by 31.1% year-on-year to 107 GWh, firmly topping the list with a market share of 37.5%; BYD increased by 21.1% year-on-year to 44.9 GWh, and its market share ranked second at 15.7%.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, from January to May, the cumulative installed capacity of power batteries in China was 160.5 GWh, with a cumulative increase of 34.6% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative installed capacity of ternary batteries was 51.1 GWh, accounting for 31.9% of the total installed capacity, with a cumulative increase of 34.9% year-on-year; the cumulative installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 109.3 GWh, accounting for 68.1% of the total installed capacity, with a cumulative increase of 34.6%.

Data shows that from January to May this year, the share of Korean power batteries in the global market installed capacity decreased by 2.8% year-on-year to 22.3%.

LG Energy Solution's installed capacity increased by 5.6% to 35.9 GWh, with a market share of 12.6% ranking third; SK On increased by 4.2% to 13.9 GWh, with a market share of 4.9% ranking fourth; Samsung SDI increased by 26.8% to 13.7 GWh, with a market share of 4.8% ranking fifth.
