AMD's New Zen5 Ryzen 9000 Processor Outperforms Intel Core i9-14900K with Lower Power Consumption

TapTechNews July 11th news, AMD's new-generation Zen5 architecture Ryzen 9000 processor continues to hold the position of the king of energy efficiency. According to the test by @Igor_kavinski, the 16-core R9 9950X defeated the Intel Core i9-14900K with only 120 watts of power consumption, and still has an advantage in multi-thread efficiency.

@Igor_kavinski showed the performance of this processor in BlenderBenchmark, including the test results of 60W, 90W and 120W, and the results are very impressive.

TapTechNews reminds that the chip used in his test here is only an ES engineering sample, and its frequency may be slightly lower than the retail version.

At 60W power consumption, the performance of this chip is close to that of the Intel Core i9-12900K running at full speed, and the boost frequency can reach 4084 MHz;

At 90W power consumption, its performance has already surpassed the R9 5950X running at full speed, and the boost frequency can reach 5053 MHz.

At 120W power consumption, the R9 9950X frequency can reach 5220 MHz, much lower than its officially claimed 5700 MHz, the lowest frequency under load is 4102 MHz, and the maximum temperature reaches 55°C (131°F), and we can see that the power consumption of this chip does not exceed 120W.

In terms of performance, this engineering sample has a score of 268.7 points in the Monster test in Blender, 177.5 points in the Junkshop test, and 129.8 points in the Classroom test.

Compared with the Core i9-14900K, even at 120W power consumption, the performance of this processor in the Monster test can be comparable to it, and in the Junkshop and Classroom tests, it can also surpass it, and the performance is even close to that of the 230W Ryzen 9 7950X.

Compared with the 90W power consumption configuration on the same platform, the 120W test data has improved by about 19% on paper, and the power consumption has increased by 33%.
